Simple BUPA recommended exercises to help you prevent the damage that hours sitting at your screen can cause

Working from home (WFH), we can find ourselves spending hours in the same position, sat at our desk, staring at a screen. If we do not take breaks, this can lead to discomfort, and potentially damage to our health. BUPA recommend a series of WFH exercises (illustrated above) to combat this.

We have combined them with a Wheel Decide wheel so that if you don’t find time to do them all, you can introduce some random variety into your movements. Try and do the WFH exercises at least once an hour. And regularly mix this up with some getting up and walking around.

If you are running a virtual meeting, you might find this page useful as a simple practical, and productive energiser. Simply share your screen, click the wheel, and then get the meeting doing the exercise for a few seconds. Repeat as appropriate. Or you can simply send them the link, and then have everyone on screen doing different exercises as their own wheels indicate.

If you are interested in adding in some mental exercises to your routines and/or your meetings also, why not subscribe to our free Leading by Adventure programme – a series of short ‘adventures’ delivered to your mailbox, one a week. Simple challenges designed to shift your perspective, and stretch your thinking a bit. Programme start January 2021. Use it individually, or with your team.
