Countdown Timers in Evernote

Countdown timer for Evernote for timeblocking and for efficient followup
Many people use Evernote for capturing their thoughts and ideas, drafting copy, and documenting their work and research or studies. It provides a great resource for not only recording key pieces of information, but also for planning your time and activity during the working day.
Which is where countdown timers come in.
Countdown timers can be easily added into evernote by simply copying and pasting them from the timers page.
  1. Simply select the countdown timer you want
  2. Right-click it and select ‘Copy image’ (or Ctrl-C)
  3. Then click where you would like it to go and type Ctrl-V
The pasted image will start counting down immediately.  It restarts whenever the page is reopened and the timer emerges into view.
This can be really helpful for people seeking to manage their time.

Countdown timers for study and revision

In particular it can help students using Evernote to revise leading up to exams. It enables them to focus on topics and questions in balanced ways, and better apportion their revision time.
Study pages can be created, with multiple countdown timers running down through the note. Then, each time the page is revisited, the timers will reactivate when each section is reached. This helps to apportion the time for either cramming some key facts, or to answer example questions. It is even possible for teachers to create these pages for their students to use.

Incorporating new disciplines and practices

For those of us who are now outside of ‘formal’ education, countdown timers can still be helpful in Evernote based todo lists, helping us to push through our work in a balanced manner. They can also be used as we try to include new disciplines in our working day. In this way they can help us allocate the time and attention we need to practice a new way of doing things, or to make time for a particular study or practice we want to develop and maintain.
